Mitre seen from a place close...

Mitre seen from a place close to Concordia on the upper Baltoro glacier. It's a majestetic peak, but it has a lot of competition from its closest neighbors - Gasherbrum IV (7925m), K2 (8611m), Broad Peak (8047m) etc. Compared to these giants, Mitre is a dwarf at 6015m.

Dwarf??

Thats the largest and most beautiful dwarf of a mountain I've ever seen! Beautiful shot.

Re: Dwarf??

Thanks SVMK. It's a very nice peak, which is many times not even looked at as everyone is busy looking at K2.

Re: Dwarf??

Thanks.
Even if it's surrounded by the giants of the Karakoram you pay attention to Mitre because of its strange appearance. I really like the looks of it.

Re: great picture!!

Hmmm, the 13'th to 17'th of July I was in C1-C3 on Gasherbrum II. I may have been down at BC the 17'th. Did you go there?

I crossed the Gondogoro Pass the 30'th of July. The weather was awful and i misjudged the time it would take me to get up there, so I arrived at the pass at 02:30 at night. Not so much views then :-(

I'm sorry for the weather to the pass....I hope yuo met a good weather on the other valley and then you saw the incredible Laila Paek.

...the world is small....

May I ask you which is your next expedition/travel. I would like to come bake in Pakistan to climb Spantik, it seems a good mountain.

Re: great picture!!

No, not all the way to the summit. Too many avalanches. I wanted to go on living a bit longer and turned back, without making a real attempt for the summit.

Spantik.

Strange you mention it, because it's on my list for next season. I will climb a lot in the Kongur/Muztagh Ata massif and was looking for an acclimatization peak. First I thought about Pik Lenin, but I've been there and Spantik is my next choice. We have to talk more about this.

Next expedition: In mid Sept. I'm off to Tibet. Xixabangma, but not to the summit. It's a film assignment, so we'll only go to 6000-6500m :-(

I may have the time for some other peaks.

TIbet: Well!! I as wrote you (some time ago), I wen to Thang La my MTB. Really good plase! Then...you will not go over 6500m. but...for a film.....really congratulation!!!!!

I hope you received my e-mail, I can't check from here (at home) if you answer me:-( I hope you like it.
