Nice  Sucess!

This is the first time I've been at a trailhead parking lot shared by surfers. Hung out on the beach after hiking. I could get used to this.

Via Montara Beach  Sucess!

Beautiful day w/o fog cover. Supposed to rain but didn't! This is an excellent short day hike. Loved the views of Diablo from the trail and the summit.

Accidentally stumbled on summit  Sucess!

Hiking in SPVCP, just kept on the trail until we reached a summit, which we discovered was Montara. Gorgeous views - really cool to see both the bay and the Pacific.

Hike Up Old San Pedro Rd.  Sucess!

A beautiful day on the mountain as always! Winter rains have receeded leaving the coveted crystal clear conditions on the peak. The views were amazing. Summited Peak Mountain, North Peak and two minor rocky peaks on the northwest side of the mountain.

Isolated MTB summit  Sucess!

Started in early evening from the beach trailhead. Parking lot was full, but most of these people by far were at the beach. Saw a total of 5 people on the trail, only 1 other cyclist. Had the summit to myself except for the obnoxious towers. Still, the panoramic views of the Bay and Pacific were worth it. Hustled back to the car for a refreshing post-ride beer.

Foggy day so no view...

...from the top. But the trail was great, the manzanita bushes were blooming and I saw several banana slugs. I only passed one other person on the trail up from San Pedro Park.

Route Climbed: San Pedro Valley County Park Headquarters  Sucess!

This is one of my favorite mountaineering training hills; hiked it with my friend Dave (ndriley97), carrying ~8 gallons of water between the two of us. We were so impressed and shocked by the runners that were going up and down multiple times that we left at least a gallon behind instead of dumping it. What say you Karma Gods?!

Route Climbed: west ridge Date Climbed: dec 03 2006  Sucess!

the west ridge route runs parallel to the wide main route. it follows power lines up to the summit. to avoid the crowds i hiked a short distance up the main route and bushwacked to reach the overgrown west ridge. about 20 feet of bushwacking lead to the ridge. 24hrs later i was covered from head to toe in poison oak (all the leaves had dropped, so could not tell). needless to say i dont recommend this route.

Route Climbed: san pedro valley county park over to mcnee ranch Date Climbed: august 21 2005  Sucess!

Climbed Montara today with a small group of people. We were short for time, and as a result, took the shorter San Pedro Valley County Park route instead of the Montara State Beach route. Made it to the summit and back in just over two hours. The summit of the mountain was, unlike the majority of the climb, not shrouded in fog. Only the tops of Mt. Diablo, Mt. Tam, and some other ridges of the Diablo range were visible from the summit. On a clear day, this hike would be great.

Route Climbed: San Pedro Valley County Park Date Climbed: August 21, 2005  Sucess!

Went with Rad. Made it from the parking lot to the summit and back in 2 hours. The summit was just above the fog layer, so we had a decent view of some distant peaks.
