| Followed our Rother Guidebook to Val de Viru to hike a small loop hike there. Got more interested in the pathless hike to Monte Albanu and the advertized 1 1/4 h fit nicely into the schedule. It turned out that the path was marked but in disrepair so that we often lost it and scrambled cross-country instead. From the saddle between Albanu and Cresta di l'Inzecche orientation got easier but it turned out we needed to climb to the top through an UIAA II chimney. Met a coouple up there who had hiked the steep west ridge but discouraged us from hiking down there. Nice views all around. In all the ascent took about 3 hours instead of 1 1/4 h | |
