Splendid day. Started at around AM 5.00 from the Refuge. Stunning views after sunrise during the ascent, from the summit and also during the endless descent to Haut Asco. Btw, the normal route from/to Haut Ascot is not a route, imho, but a mess of steep scree and gravel slopes, almost all the way ... if not for the view, any other route is preferable.

Route from Haut-Asco via Bocca Borba
Route climbed with normal summer hiking gear on a partly cloudy day seasoned with a lttle fear of rain and thunder. We gave up 300m before the summit due to unsure weather conditions and lack of courage. However, it did not rain, and probably we would have been successful...It took seven hours to climb the return route from Haut-Asco to the beginning of the hard part of the trail.

Normal route
My wife and I climbed it with a fairly big group (Baraka) on a cloudless, perfect summer day. Sweaty climb revarded by spectacular views.

Inspiring hike
Hiked up from Lozzi, Refuge de l´Erco and the normal route. Descent cis Lac du Cinto. Wonderful views of the whole island and the sea.

From Lozzi camping via Refuge de l'Ercu
We started round 5 o'clock in the morning with two friends because there was a risk of serious storms in the early afternoon. It was hard to find the marking in the dark (they are rather hard to find on the whole route anyway), so it took untill 7 to get to Refuge de l'Ercu, and then summited at 10.15. On the way back we were cought in a heavy thunderstorm with horizontally hitting hail between Ref. de l'Ercu and Bergerie de Petra Pinzuta (we were stupid not to stop and wait at the hut...). We took shelter in the Bergerie (which is demaged and derelict nowadays). Back to the camping there was sunshine again.
This way my first ascent over 2500 meters.

Route climbed: Couloir de Bicarelli
Solo ascent. Left the 'Camping' at 5AM. Great scramble up the Couloir de Bicarelli under the hot Corsican sun. Scary decent via Lac du Cinto in a thunderstorm with pleanty of hail and lightning. Helped a hiker who had fallen on the slick rocks and hurt himself.

We climbed Monte Cinto during a 9-day hike along the GR20. We left the tent & unnessecary luggage at Haut-Asco. Started off in rainy cloudy weather. We had some difficulty finding the path and could hardly see each other due to the clouds. By the end of the morning though the clouds disappeared and we could see the summit. The view from the summit was absolutely wonderful. All the clouds were gone and to the north and west we could see the sea. We stayed at the summit for at least 2 hours after which we descended in beautiful sunny weather.
