Monte Etna, also Mongibello, Europe's highest active volcano and simultaneously Italy's highest mountain outside the Alps, dominates the scenery of Sicily on the rare days of clear air. This shot was taken from Monte Sambughetti (1558m) in the centre of the island some 75km away. May 16th 2006
