After having read that Andre hiked it with his girlfriend I decided to do the same thing. We climbed from the lake to the summit and continued to Morcote. Lovely and easy hike with stunning views. I now actually live over halfway up San Salvatore and regularly hike up (in 30minutes) - love it.
