The Moon Rocks are a popular local granite dike located just outside of Spanish Springs (Reno) Nevada, and near Pyramid Lake. As a part of the Hungry Valley Recreation Area it is utilized by off-road vehicle enthusiasts but also by climbers, photographers, and hikers. 

Getting There

From Spanish Springs, Nevada.
1.Take Pyramid Highway 445 North.
2.Take a Left onto Winnemucca Ranch road.
3. Follow for 5 miles till road turns to dirt. Continue for 1 more mile on dirt.
4. Destination will be on left 1/2 mile off Winnemucca Ranch Road. Moon Rocks will be visible from main road. 

Red Tape

All BLM Land. Entry is free, however there are no available services. 

When to Climb

Suitable to climb year round. Winnemucca Ranch Road is typically passable by 2wd year-round with the exception of heavy snow storms.
