Moonset over the Pacific. Vulcan Peak, Kalmiopsis Wilderness Oregon

I took this early one morning while camping on top of Vulcan peak in the Kalmpiopsis wilderness of Southern Oregon. I woke at about 5 in the morning for no good reason, then looked out from my sleeping bag and saw this view of the moon setting over the Pacific. Amazing. I only wish I'd had a better camera on me at the time. After taking a few pictures, I brewed some coffee and enjoyed the view for another half hour while just laying there in my bag. I'm very lucky to have seen this.

Moonset at vulcan Peak

It has been many years since I was down that way. My amateur photography bug lost it's way a long time ago. It just got too expensive.

I don't think a "better" camera wouldn't have helped much since most everything is in a soft focus condition. It's a great photo from a fantastic location. Nice work.

Re: Moonset at vulcan Peak

Thanks for the feedback and info on photography. It's good to know my decision to leave the more expensive camera at home likely didn't make a difference in the photo quality. At any rate, it was an amazing view. On gray, rainy days in Michigan I sometimes daydream about it.
