Approach

Morarului valley is a huge valley with very nice views on surrounding ridges. If you reach this valley you will see the fauna and the flora in Bucegi mountains.

From the city Busteni you will go by the road to Hotel Gura Diham (5 km, 1 hour). Here you will cross the river and will find an unmarked path that will lead to a small hut (1 hour). From this hut you will have an marked path (red) and you will follow this path to the right. After 10 min. you will reach the valley Bujorilor, cross this smal valley and follow the marked path and after 20 min. you will reach the next valley (Morarului valley). From this point you will leave the marked path and will follow the path that is on the right side of Morarului valley. After 20 min. you will reach in a very beautiful place with a nice view to gendarmes Morarului and the starting point for:
1. Poienii valley
2. Tancurilor valley
3. Rapa zapezii valley
4. Adanca valley
5. Morarului valley
Morarului valley is the largest valley in the area Morar and the only one that don`t reach Morarului ridge.

Route Description

In summer:
Follow the unmarked path for 3 - 4 hours and you will reach the peak Omu. For 15 min. the path it`s in forest and after that you will reach a small canyon. After this canyon you will reach the second step of the valley with alot of grass. Between the second step and the third step of the valley you will climb an very easy rock section ( 15m, UIAA II). From this point you will have in front the peak Omu and the meteo station.
I advise you to have with you a good camera.

In winter:
You climb this valley only if you find good snow conditions because is a huge risk of avalances in this area. In ianuary 2004 have died 5 romanian climbers in a big avalance.
The maximum snow slope is 45.

Essential Gear

For summer: no tehnical equipment is necessary.
For winter: ice axe, crampons.
