Hiked all the presidentials on the longest day of the year. A long day starting at 3 am and ending on rte 302 at 6 pm. I recommend this hike as the intro to the New England classic death marches.

8 peaks - we missed the last one on accident - in 19.8 miles. I slept REALLY well that night!

Day 4 Franconia to Pinkham. Not really a defined trail there are a few cairns but it more just jumping from boulder to boulder. great views from the summit.

nartrebRoute Climbed: Air Line, descended Watson Path from Mt Madison Date Climbed: 11 june 2005  Sucess!

Drenchingly humid in the morning, even the mosquitoes were reluctant to move around much. Clouds and fog much of the day, some sunlight in the afternoon, distant thunder. Spooky insect swarms just at the summits.

Seen from the highway: 1 moose, 1 turkey, 1 huge turtle/tortoise plodding along the breakdown lane.

H2SO4Route Climbed: Airline Date Climbed: ?, summer  Sucess!

Great views of the cog railway from the top. It produces a rather alarming amount of smoke. On another trip I had the pleasure of being right under the cloud of coal as it rained down over the trail. It's much more pleasant to watch from Mount Adams.

dwhikeRoute Climbed: Caps Ridge to Gulfside Trail from Jefferson Notch Date Climbed: November 1995  Sucess!

Quite a hike! A 12 mile round trip across some of the most beautiful terrain in eastern America. I love this peak!

Extremely long day hike, King Ravine is steep scramble all the way, great views of entire Presidential Range

Very surreal summit completely fogged out but bright with filtered sunlight. Not a breath of wind either and I was completely alone. I can see why this is regarded (by some, at least) as one of the mystical places in the world.

cragRoute Climbed: Air Line Date Climbed: February 19, 1997  Sucess!

Bagged this peak many times but the winter hike was the best. Left Boston at 0400. Air temp 5F and highest recorded gust on Mt Washington that day was in the 90s. Nobody else on the mountain. Fun fun fun. On the descent the last rays of the setting sun shone through the ice chips kicked up by my crampons, turning them brilliant, glowing red. My flashlight died somewhere in the sugarbush and I made it back to the car in the dark.

BoulaRoute Climbed: Great Gulf -> Madison Gulf -> Airline Date Climbed: September 2003  Sucess!

Great hike, long day, but well worth it. Went in on the Great Gulf trail to Madison Gulf, up to Madison Hut, over to Adams on Airline, back down to Madison Hut, over the Osgood Trail to Madison, down Osgood to the Great Gulf trail and back out.

In the clouds (saw nothing), 60+ MPH (to 75 MPH gusts), and wind chills in 20's. All on July 30, 2003. Gotta love the Whites.

2nd time on Summit. This time as part of a presidential traverse.

mjm2167Route Climbed: Airline Date Climbed: 8/17/96 First time  Sucess!

This was one I should have done sooner! It is actually more of an elevation change than Mt. Washington. I found it tough especially above tree line, it gets the brute force of the wind when it is blowing.

Weekend WarriorRoute Climbed: Gulfside to Lowe's Path - Return via Israel Ridge Date Climbed: August 11, 2002  Sucess!
Great day for climbing in the Presidentials! So hot I came home with major sunburn! 68 degrees on Washington. I did a loop of Jefferson & Adams. Went up Lowe's Path which is only 0.3 mi from the Gulfside Trailhead at Thunderstorm Junction. Just a lot of rock hopping to the top. Views were unreal! 2nd only to Washington for best overall view in all the Presies. Wish I could've spent more than 5 minutes at the summit, however the black flies were in full force: annoying & biting! Hope to do this again next year taking either Airline or King Ravine.

AlexeyDRoute Climbed: Air Line trail, durand ridge Date Climbed: december 2000  Sucess!

decided to do a winter hike just before New Years day...was perfect weather, warm and sunny all the way and almost no wind. Took photos on the top shirtless. The rime-covered rocks do require crampons and damage the points quite a bit, but other than that no technical problems - its a walk up.

GuitarWIzardRoute Climbed: Northern Presidential Traverse - Gulfside/Airline Date Climbed: 6/25/02  Sucess!

Second summit of the Northern Presidential Traverse....very rocky and non-eventful hike up to the summit. The views from the summit were great, although I think I liked Mt. Madison a bit more. On to Mt. Jefferson...

Kings Ravine trail is the way to go. It's steep but the views are worth it.
