Made it all the way to about 100 ft or so below the summit. I must have started ascending the wrong gully because from where I ended up, the climb to the top would have been a bit uncomfortable un-roped. That being said, with 75 degree weather and crystal clear skies, the hike was fantastic.

Climbed sometime in the summer of 1997. Tried the winter before while camped up there training for Mt. McKinley. We turned back then not liking the snow conditions. Didn't turn back on McKinley:)

I had a bit of a self-imposed epic, getting off the trail/route and then having no idea how to get back on it. After figuring it out (and kicking myself for missing a REALLY obvious trail marker), I summited in the rain and fog, then headed back to the HRVC. I want to do it again, this time knowing where I'm going.

Took the trailhead by the waterfalls, and hiked up to the climbers trail. Tried to make it up the "notch", and it looked doable, but a little more sketchy than we felt ok with, so we downclimbed, went further north around and made it to the top. Very good views.

Parked lower down on the road and hiked up in August. Had trouble finding the correct route at first. Unfortunately, the clouds had covered the summit and blocked our views - though at one point the clouds below cleared and we could look down and see our car, a tiny speck below. Didn't see anyone else out the entire time. The scree on the first part of the descent was as soft as butter - a pure delight to descend.

Went up the switchback trail and then the big gully heading straight to the peak. It was a really fun climb, especially following the ridge crest east to Middle peak. The views were very interesting since the clouds were coming and going, breaking over the summit ridge. Incredible experience.

Two years ago I made a wrong turn and didn't get the summit. This year I made a triumphant return. I hiked from the Hurricane Ridge parking area as the switchback trail head is in the middle of a road construction area. I lost the trail to the west side chutes in a snow bank below the scree in the signature picture and went straight up the rock you see in the sig pic. I came down the chutes to the west. I saw a bear on the way back to the car. All told, 3 hours 40 minutes CTC.

Next time you do the climb, think about parking the car at the base of Hurricane Ridge and biking to the base then climb Angeles. It makes the day very deserving of a few beers afterwards.

Climbed it various times over the past couple decades. Love going up to Hurricane and hiking the Klahanie ridge and climbing up Mt Angeles. Also love the switchback trail. Great in any weather!

Climbed by the standard route from Hurricane Ridge. Made it to the summit block, but it was covered in rime ice, and I didn't feel like dieing, so I turned around. Perfect weather with temps around 10 degrees(with wind chill more like -10).

I climbed it with a couple of my cousins to celebrate my return to Washington after seven months in Maine. It was a beautiful day, we could see everything from Baker to the heart of the Olympics. Really fun scramble, I was pretty comfortable with it but I'm pretty sure my aunt would kill me if she knew the route I took Jacki and Gep on!

Second time is a charm in this case. Bridget and I made the summit just before sunset and spent a half hour enjoying the changing colors in the sky. We used headlamps on the way out and encountered a large animal that was coming towards us in the bushes. We yelled at it and it stopped about ten feet away. I could hear it breathing. I bet it was that one goat that seems to harass everyone. Bridget says it's chased her before.

After the switchback trail, I made a beeline up a snow-filled couloir still rock-hard in the early morning cold. It was a dicier ascent than it should've been, but soon enough I met up with the climbers trail and scrambled up the loose rock to the summit. Amazing views! Barely a cloud in the sky and I could see Rainier, British Columbia, and most of the Olympic peaks. Descended the 'normal' way. Fantastic peak for such a little time commitment (3hour round trip)

Made the scramble through the snowpack and fog with my friend who was wearing boat shoes. Well, he made it anyway. Didn't know you could have that much scree on a mountain. It was easy on the way down!

Climbed with gurlyclimber and our friend Jody while poking around the Olympic Peninsula after an attempt on Rainier. We are not sure what summit we ended up on actually, we went up a class 3+ gully system just west of the junction with the switchback trail then headed left and scrambled up to what we thought was the summit of Angeles. Unfortunately the peak just east of us looked taller and was probably the true summit. Most of the summit was in a low cloud as we ascended, so we probably just missed the true summit, we decided to just head down so we could get back to the airport. We did get to share our journey and summit with a friendly and curious mountain goat though!

Second peak of our intro to the Olympics weekend. We really liked the Hurricane ridge area. As advertised the views from the top are great in clear weather.
