Great trip in the first snow of the year. We went up the east slope, just north of the big bowl. Great sunny day in the new snow!

TiogaBradford4th of July fun  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 4, 2006

Summitted this with two friends on July 4th. It was my first 13er at that date. We had decent weather, but as we were on top, a cloud closed in on us, and we had to get out of there. It started to thunder/lightning/hail on us about the time we made it to tree line.

It was a beautiful hike with wildflowers in full bloom. There was a crowd at the summit and along the trail. While decending, we encounterd woman accending, carrying her little "foo foo" dog that couldn't handle the trail (I doubt that she made it to the summit with the talus). Overall, a nice hike.

ChrisFun Trail Run  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2006

pksander, CharlesD and I did this as a trail run today, in preparation for the Pikes Peak Marathon. It was a really beautiful day. Reached the summit in about 1hr 20min (Peter was faster... he's on form!). No snow at all. Headed over to Pauite, then down into Blue Lakes. Great loop.

Had to wait out some weather half-way up and was only able to spend a couple minutes on the summit. Glad to meet Barry on the hike! Here's to lots of great hikes in the future.

This was when you could camp without permits. We camped on the south east shoulder. The next day we scrambled up to the top and then traversed to the saddle between Audubon and Paiute. Some of our group decended to camp from the saddle. I went on with a friend to Paiute.

Great peak for views into RMNP. Easy solid trail up to the summit cone(about 12,800'). The there is a bit of boulder hopping, but nothing serious.

Summited Audubon on the last weekend before the road to Brainard Lake was to be closed. Did not see another soul on the entire hike - rare for Audubon.

As usual when I'm in the IPW it was windy...VERY windy! Almost couldn't keep your feet on the top. But well worth it.

Great day, the bare ridges of vast tundra exposed me to the wind, and at about 11,000 feet we noticed a thunderhead forming above us. There are about 4 false summits advancing 1,500 feet over the end of the tundra, don't be fooled!

My brother Mike's first real alpine summit (driving up Mt. Evans didn't count, and Death Valley's Telescope Peak is not a true alpine peak)-- tough on him but rewarding, and windy. Bring a windbreaker for this even if it's warm and still at the trailhead.

Beautiful views, but it was really windy that day adding quite a chill and a lot of resistance on the hike up. Overall it was worth it!
