| Six hours from the day-use parking lot at Convict Lake to the summit via "standard route", solo. Convict Creek was tame and easy to cross. Amazing t-shirt weather at the top on the last day of September! About twenty-five parties visited the peak this season so far. As calipidder says (below), the steep, slippery chute just below the mine is somewhat sketchy. Other than that, a couple of fair 'use trails' get you from Mildred almost to the summit. | Really fun peak with unique scenery - the moonscape plateau felt more like Death Valley than the Sierra. Only sketchiness was just below the calcite mine - went up the sandy track and down the solid rock. Should have done the reverse. | |
