It had been a while since I'd last been into the high country so when Charles invited me to climb Mount Bancroft with him I was really looking forward to it.
Charles had gotten the skinny on the East Ridge Direct Route from Jared Workman who had climbed it the weekend before. The ridge consisted of a lot of class 3 and 4 scrambling mixed with some snow and one technical section - a notch that must rappelled into and then climbed out of via a short but spicey class 5 pitch.
Chris, Mike, and Marella completed our party. The weather was great and the scenery was spectacular. A great time was had by all!
"Never! Never, Marge! I can't live the button-down life like you. I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles. Sure, I might offend a few of the bluenoses with my cocky stride and musky odors - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called city fathers, who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?!"
