Morning at sea level, evening at 13000 feet
Started at the locked gate and left the main dirt road a bit more than half a mile before the Barcroft Research Station. The off-trail portion is a class 2 hike, but fortunately, the terrain is very stable. There was no snow on the mountain when I climbed it in early November, and although the trailhead can get busy, there's plenty of solitude on the mountain itself - in 2023, there were no entries in the summit register between October 15 and November 2.

Mt Barcroft
Hiked up Mt Barcroft on my return trip from White Mountain Peak.

On descent from WMP
Tagged Barcroft on return from White Mountain Peak, even though it is only about 450 feet of extra gain I felt the altitude heading up this one after having no trouble at any other point on the day.

Not a lick of snow on this dry September day. Nice views of White Mountain as expected. Saw group of half dozen deer on way down. Saw dozen or so hunters out this day also.

Rest day
After a mentally and physically taxing climb of Mt Morrison the previous day, I decided on a rest day exploring the whites. I've ignored poor mt Barcroft on my ascents of White Mountain, so today it was time to pay it a visit. I forgot how amazing the views were up here. Great day!
Just tooling around getting some walking in at altitude. Seems like a little more then a mile of off trail from the telescope dome.

Nice View of White Mt Peak
Veered off the White Mountain trail on the way back from White Mt. Peak, scrambled through a bunch of boulders and made it to the top of this one. Nice views, signed the register, and went down the south side and met up with the main trail a little before the Barcroft Facility.

On Return from White
While descending East Side of White Mountain, I ditched the trail and scrambled the short scree fest to the top of this peak. Easy, and fun to look back on White from here.

If you can't do White....
First climbed this one as a consolation peak on a day when the weather on White Mtn made me turn back. I've been back several times because it's a beautiful, rarely visited place. Easy climb from the White Mountain trailhead and you can spend lots of time staring at the views since you are still relatively close to the trail head. Good warm up hike for White Mountain or if the drive in to White Mtn trailhead took longer than expected and you still want to bag a nice peak for your efforts.
