9/24/2013 Drove up through Big John Flats to about 11,200 feet and parked by a locked gate leading up to the ridge Delano Peak is on. From there I climbed up and over the ridge and followed the road leading towards the Bullion trailhead area for a while before breaking off and heading towards the saddle and SE face of Mount Belknap. Very windy and cold, but a perfectly clear day. The views were outstanding of the rest of the range and of the changing fall colors. From Belknap I hiked back along the road and regained the ridge around 11,400 and followed it to Delano Peak. Drastically different terrain between the two peaks. Fun day in the Tushars.

Parked at the sharp switchback at about 10,800. Pretty uneventful until the steep, loose scree/talus of the face of Belknap. Slogged up that and made the summit. Excellent summit log container, best I've ever seen. We continued about 30% down the ridge to Baldy, but threatening weather moved in and we had to bail. We were pelted by hail on the way back, so it was probably a wise choice.

Poison Creek was no problem for two Xterras, in case you're wondering if your car can make it (I was).

Excellent views in all directions, and I think these are some of the most aesthetic peaks I've ever had the joy of hiking. They are truly badass.

Hot as hell even at 12000'!

Started at Mud Lake. Walked the road to the 10973 saddle. Took a short detour SE of the pass to get to the top of 11420. Went back to the pass and followed or skirted the ridgeline to Belknap. Traversed the ridge from Belknap to Baldy. Baldy looked impossibly steep from a distance, and was not a particularly pleasant ascent. From Baldy, went back on the ridge a short way to the first prominent bump. Descended the SE ridge of this bump to a point north of Blue Lake. Could not find the Skyline Trail which is a National Recreation Trail. Expected it to be really prominent, but it wasn't. Went to the far side of the lake and went up and we finally ran into it. Followed the Skyline Trail to a switchback north of Shelly Baldy Peak. Took a detour to Shelly Baldy, having to go over a big bump along the way, ouch! Then made our way back to the Skyline Trail which we followed to the trail to Mud Lake, which we followed back to our car.

Our Subaru Legacy (not Outback) made it to Mud Lake with only minor difficulties. There was one short steep section that took several tries to get up and we scraped bottom crossing Poison Creek.

Kind of a long slog with snow from ~9k feet. Didn't have the energy to continue to Baldy. Trip report.

Started on the Big John Flats Road at around 10,900ft. It took us an hour and 20 to reach the summit of Belknap. We did Baldy after and it took us an one and forty-five to reach the summit of Baldy from the summit of Belknap. Then we went down to Blue Lake and hiked up to our cars. Awesome Loop! The views of Baldy are so colorful!

Started at 1st Big John Meadow. 19 mile loop over Belknap and Baldy. Much extra elevation for snow-avoidance. Lots of damage on road to Marysville; 5 to 6'deep gouge in the road above 11k'.

Belknap seemed intimidating but the closer I got the less it became. The summit of Belknap offers the best views of the Tushars. It was a quick and easy climb. Time constraints did not allow me to continue to Baldy.

Very interesting terrain and awesome colors every where. Greg and I saw some mountain goats while we were there. Off the summit, we decided to go straight down the face. I stepped onto the loose tiny rocks and just went sliding, like a was skiing on rocks! At the time I was a little scared, but after I thought it was pretty fun. Let's do it again!

Got out of Vegas late, but still found time to take a leisurely stroll up this one when we got in. Weather threatened, but never did anything.

Fantastic scenery in this area. Reminds me of parts of Colorado.

Left Salt Lake City on a Friday and camped at Big John Flats, Started out on Saturday at 8:00 am from Beaver Creek Road and made the Summit by 9:00 am, drank some water and continued my trek to Baldy. Had good weather except for the gale force winds along the ridgeline.
