Gould Creek Loop
Great little climb, I jumped off the 4x4 road a little early and hit the ridge just before the prospect; love the ridge walking, nice open forest, too short though. Hit the false summit then dived off too far east (or not far enough) and had to bushwack back off the ridge crest for easier walking. Love the summit scramble! Great fun. It was nice and cool on top which was great. Lots and lots of 4x4-ers coming up the road on my way down, all really nice people (be oout before noon all the same to avoid crowds of jeeps on your descent).

Big Chief indeed...
From the Frosty's Park turnoff, up the thigh deep snow to the first of three distinct peaks. The final summit is steep and cliff laden, it looks like a fortress. Great views of the region and distant mountain ranges...

BIG day, on Big chief
What a fun trip! A couple of miles,up a snowy road, followed by a couple of miles of postholen, followed by a couple of false summits, followed by some nice third class rock, at the top. Why this isn't a local classic, I don't Know. seven hours round trip.

Last fine day before a front moved in. FR 370 from Gold Camp Rd., north to a trail/road leading NE, then E up to a saddle N of the summit. Traversed/corkscrewed counter-clockwise to approach the top from the SW. Nice rocks at the top.

This is most definitely one of my favorite local Colorado Springs peaks. The final summit scramble is a hoot. The views from the top are fantastic. What a joy that nobody else bothers to enjoy this great peak! Partners: Elissa, Cassandra & Karen. Dog: Stimpy.
