Last of the three  Sucess!

I had to sign the summit logs for Lincoln and Democrat too so it looks like I am a super star climber.

Kite Lake TH, Ascend Democrat E Ridge, Cross Cameron Point to Lincoln W Ridge, Descend Bross W Slopes to TH  Sucess!

Peak bagger's dream ... three in one day. Perfect weather capped off by shoe skiing down the scree slope for a quick descent.

Dolly Varden route; Flowers Indeed  Sucess!

Most of the hillside going up Bross was scented with wildflowers. What a gift! There's an old mining cabin with a permanent snowfield inside. Seriously, I suspect it doesn't melt out. Neato.

Triplet from Kite Lake  Sucess!

Made the trip round the horn, Lincoln > Cameron > Democrat > Bross. Had to park 2-3 miles from the trailhead for fear of my car which made for the day being a little longer.

4 of 4  Sucess!

My wife and I did the Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross cirque with our dog, Boomer, to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Great weather day!

winter ascent foiled

Got up to just over 13,000 but had to turn back due to very bad weather. Partner wussed out, may have been for the best. Easy hike, just bad weather.

Decalibron: 4th down  Sucess!

Bagged Bross and then got confused about the proper path back to Kite Lake, so I skied scree on my heels. That was a quick way to lose vertical. Ended up bagging the whole group in 3 hrs, 59 mins, beating my goal by - get this - one minute!

Kite Lake TH, Ascend Democrat E Ridge, Cross Cameron Point to Lincoln W Ridge, Descend Bross W Slopes to TH

Knocking off 3-4 14ers, depending on your point of view, in one hike is great. Perfect weather. The shoe skiing down skree from Bross was a neat way to finish.

1 of "4" That Day  Sucess!

Depending on whether or not you consider Mt. Cameron a 14er, we completed Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross. There was still enough snow on Bross for a small glisade.

Route Climbed: Decalibron  Sucess!

Last one of the day...it was quite windy on the summit, quite a difference from Democrat earlier. Descended the slippery scree on the way down - this persuaded me to purchase trekking poles.

This may be Colorado's least photogenic 14er.

N Slopes  Sucess!

My only true winter 14er ascent. Probably the easiest winter ascent in the state. We parked east of the summit, and camped at 13,000 feet in the Cameron Amphitheater. Kinda cold. Those mountains sure have a different flavor in the winter.

Route: Kite Lake Loop  Sucess!

A footnote on the Kite Lake Loop...watch out for those cliff bands on the descent (not sure if we followed the trail or dropped in too early)! I recall some butt-sliding on this one.

Wind

Way high winds by the time we were otw to Bross for the final peak, picked me up and decided I should have been walking about 5-10 feet away, only stayed cause the ridge is so broad.

Route Climbed: Democrat-Lincoln-Bross via Kite Lake Date Climbed: April 2005  Sucess!

Went out for a little solo manajatwa action (If that make sense) Well bagged Democrat in a jiffy. On my way to Lincoln I started to suffer for my speedy ascent and lack of acclimatization. On top of the gully I decided to nix Lincoln and head strait for Bross. After picking up one more peak for the day I beelined it back down to Kite-Lake. All in all a successful trip.

I think that's when I climbed it? Not sure, bad with dates!
