| The ridge was holding alot of fresh snow. A hazy white out above about 13,300ft - little wind but some fresh snow. I couldn't see more than 10 feet away on the stormy summit. I wish I could have seen the views from up top. Nevertheless, another solo success. | ||

| Nice short hike. Great to leave the hordes headed for the Decalibron. Had it to myself. In November we encountered 6-8 inches of new snow. Climbed to the summit of Loveland via the Buckskin TH which is about 1.5 miles before Kite Lake. | ||

| We did a loop out of it and climbed up the eastern slopes and down the western side. Nice views of all the people on Democrat etc. We saw no one all day on Buckskin - just how we like it. Nice mountain! | ||

| Climbed to the west summit for a ski descent. It was a very foggy day, but not too cold. We skied from the western summit down through the steepest slope to the creek. Great ski. | ||

| This is anice high country tour, all abve timberline and a loop without any steps being re-traced. My dog Logan and I parked along the road near the Sweet Home Mine. From the TH, youhead WSW to intersect the east ridge of Loveland just below 13,000 feet. I encountered some snowfields on this day, so having an ice axe was nice, although trekking poles would have worked, since they were not steep. The east ridge then climbs at a steady grade up to the summit of Loveland. Strong climbers can easily do this section in less than two hours. From Loveland, turn right and hike northwest along the ridge for almost a mile to Buckskin's summit. Almost from the true summit, I was able to glassade to NE face down toward the mass of cars near Kite Lake, with Logan bouncing thru the snow as happy as a dog can be! To avoid some of the crowds at Kite Lake, and make my return trip shorter, below 12,400' I swung to the southeast to intersect the road about halfway between Kite Lake and where I had left my car. | ||

| We were shocked by the lack of snow on this hike. A gentle summit ridge and a wonderful glissade cemented this as a wonderful hike | ||

| We left the Buckskin Creek Road near Buckskin Joe Mine at around 10,800'. Bushwhacked up the north-facing slopes to our left to meet up with Loveland Mountain's long southeast ridge, meeting up with a Jeep road that accelerated our progress. Climbed open slopes on the ridge for 2.5 miles to Loveland's summit, and then continued the traverse to Buckskin. Glissaded down Buckskin's southeast slopes to eventually reach the road. | ||
