| Day 9 of the 2010 Sierra Challenge. Armstrong Canyon is not a good place to climb out of with a large group - too much loose, unstable rock. Trip Report. | ||

| Longest day of the SC, what a slog. Won't go back to Armstrong Canyon without snow (and skis). Had wanted to do Colosseum but balked since I was friggin' pooped. | ||

| Fighting a case of the lazies in camp, thought maybe about just scouting the area for later. Instead Scott and I headed up the SE slopes in the snow. Perfect for kick/plunge stepping. Awesome views. | ||

| Langenbacher | East Slope Date Climbed: May 27, 2007 | |
| From Colosseum Col with Daryn, Steve, Tim, Lisa, Brian, Jim, and Louise! Made a bee-line from the col, avoiding the ridge, for an easy class 2 climb. Came in from Armstrong Col the previous day, then on to Colosseum Mtn and Sawmill pass that night. Nice little peak! See pix at http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/559250706KwcBqN | ||

| Matthew Holliman | Route Climbed: NE Ridge (ascent) / SE Slope (descent) Date Climbed: July 2, 2005 ![]() | |
| Started from the Scotty Spring parking area at 3.30am, tagging Mt. Perkins first, then traversing along the Sierra Crest to Colosseum (time-consuming but enjoyable), down to Colosseum Col and up Cedric Wright's easy NE Ridge, then a long trudge back over Sawmill Pass and back down the trail and up the road to my car, which I reached shortly after dark. The Sawmill Pass trail seemed to go on forever--thank goodness I wasn't hauling a backpack up that thing! My hat's off to everyone who's done that. I carried a quart of water, which wasn't nearly enough for all three peaks (Armstrong Canyon was dry by this point in the year already), and axe/crampons, which I didn't use all day. If I did it again, I'd take a bigger water bottle (or one with a wide mouth that could be replenished with snow), and leave the snow gear behind. A longer loop than it had looked on the map. I think might stop scaling down my maps so much when I print them... | ||

| Made the long truck up and over the pass in one day, camping in the Woods Lake Basin. Took off the next morning up the SE slope then descended the NE Ridge and traversed over to Colosseum Mt. Another beautiful day in the Sierras. Eric | ||
