Winterish Ascent
No snow over Tioga pass, so we parked and climbed the peak. We encountered very very little ice or snow on the way up. We hit the top, came back down, then walked across Tenaya Lake. Strange season.

Middle of Winter
Nice easy climb in the middle of winter with no snow from Tioga Pass. Cold, but seasonably warm (mid 20s at summit). Beautiful day. Went ice skating at Tioga Lake afterwards.

From Tioga
After some trouble finding a camping spot near the pass, climbed Dana from the Tioga Pass gate. Pretty windy at the top but great views! First 13'er!!

My first hiking ascent past 11,000 ft, actually! It's a great hike and lucked out with the weather this winter. Wonderful views make it more than worth it.

Not too cold
Today was one of the warmest day this week and if not for the 15 mph wind would have been toasty when on the move. Did the standard route; had my eye on the glacier route for next time

Dry winter so far
Taking advantage of little snow so far this season, I drove up to Tioga Pass and hiked the mostly dry Mt. Dana on a cold and windy - but otherwise beautiful day.

Moved to California and started grad school at Berkeley in fall 1983 -- spent the last weekend before classes in Yosemite, including climbing Dana.

Via Standard Route
Despite a horrible cold and strep throat I made the summit on our second attempt. I was not ready to leave Yosemite until I saw the much talked about views from the top. The day before afternoon storms prevented us from making the summit, so we got up extra early to make the hike before the long drive back to southern California. The views were beyond worth it! The climb would have been a walk in the park if I wasn't so sick, but definitely a fun hike with all the scrambling!

Climbed Dana Couloir with SMG, but descended the back side instead of the loose climb to the top.

Great route with stunning views of Tioga and Conness on the way up & Lake Mono and Lyell on the summit. Encountered 3-4 snowfields on the way up; had fun glissading down these on the way back.
