I wanted to add a few notes for anyone driving in from Woodland Park. First, the turn off for FR 79 is just past mile marker 85. There are a few roads crossing or turning off FR 79 - I took a left at the first junction, right at the second, third, and fourth junctions to end up with the Forest Service house on my left. Continuing along Hotel Gulch Road, or FR 346, there is a non-descript left-hand turn to a small road marked '931'. This is 0.1 mile long and there is room to park here and start the hike. The turn for 931 is shortly before the campsite mentioned on this page.
