| Actually, it was my first hike over 5,000 ft. After a weekend in Denver and a night in Fairplay, I climbed it from Kite Lake. The lack of air was totally new to me and slowed me down considerably, but persistence got me through. | |

| Standard route from Kite Lake. Democrat was my 10th 14er back in September of '94. Got in a repeat climb of all four of these summits, with family this time, just before the access controversy exploded. | |

| Climbed this 14er the morning after my buddies and I were turned down mount tabeguache due to thunderstorms and hail. Was a beautiful clear night, saw about 6 shooting stars. We were up at 2 and were hiking by 3 since we had to catch a plane back to New York that day. It was really very serene, we ended up just hikin up the right face of the mountain (same side where trail goes) but more towards the middle. Great intro hike for the 14ers, also really fun at night. | |

| Heard rumors of a ban by the owners. Decided to head up there anyways. Found 1 little sign on the porta potty at the Kite Lake Trailhead but found plenty of other people hiking up. Wanted to do the 4 mountain circuit was it was quite windy and cold so did just Democrat. | ||

| Started out with an ascent of Mt. Buckskin, at 5:00am, then returned to Kite Lake and did 'The Decalibron II' route. Perfect weather, great views from up there. Got 5 in 1 day; a 13,865' peak & 4 14ers. Not bad for a Monday! | |

| Kite lake start in late september. About an inch of snow on the ground. Made the hike to democrat with no real problems, only blowing snow. Descended to the saddle and headed up Cameron. We arrived on top to a 60mph blizzard. since everyone had already done lincoln, we moved towards bross, but couldnt see the broad ridge in the whiteout, so we followed our tracks back down to the saddle and to the car. | |
