Well some how we took the wrong trail straight out of parking lot, opting for an interesting day. After hiking to the top of a small hill, we could see the peak, and headed straight for the summit from the Northwest ridge. It made for a great day with an awsome view of Shasta for over half of the way up.

Camped at Upper Deadfall lakes where there was only one other camper, despite the tent city down on Lower Deadfall Lake. Up to the summit to watch the sunset light up Shasta and the Trinity Alps. Ordinary hike, extraordinary views!

The first of 5 county highpoint peaks in 4 days A fun but quick trip. I may have to go back to fish the Deadfall Lakes.

I Left Parks Creek trailhead around 5:00 p.m. with Juan, Luis, Lab Dylan, and Kelpie Marley. The boys fished for awhile at the far west end of Middle Deadfall Lake, then Juan, the dogs, and I scrambled up the scree to meet up with the summit trail below the upper lake. At the top, we took in the outstanding views until after sunset, then found Luis in the moonlight near the lake and hiked back to the trailhead, arriving at midnight. We camped at a pullout part way down toward deadfall meadow so as not to awaken the other campers at the trailhead.

My friend Caleb and I climbed Mt. Eddy on a beautiful fall day...until we got to the top and the clouds hit us. The wind was nasty and we could not wait to get off the mountain.

highicewinter, east ridge  Sucess!
nice ski up the east ridge with the dogs. we camped on its lower toe and went for the top the next day(I think it was 7 miles of x-c to the top)and descended the south side (steep!) to a trail and got a shuttle back to the car.

Parked at the lower parking lot (past Park Creek Summit) and headed across swampy Deadfall Meadows. About a 5 1/2 hour round trip.

Parked at the pass where the I.P. Road (Parks Creek Rd. to some) crosses the PCT. Thought was that by following the ridge line eastward along the county line we'd reach the summit with the minimum amount of elevation gain. Probably what we saved in elevation we lost in the struggle to maintain a line scrambling the ridgeline. Took a couple of hours from the car. Who watches their watch in the mountains? View was as advertised and did not disappoint. We returned via the trail down to the Deadfall Lakes and back along the PCT to where we had parked.

Took my partner, 2 dogs and I, 2 hours to reach the summit and 1:15 to get back to the trailhead. The 360 degree views from the top are spectacular. This is by far the most breathtaking mountain vista I've summited in my young, but burgeoning peakbagging career.

2 1/2 hours to top. No snow left. Beautiful day. Jill led, which sped the ascent. Nice Jeffries Pines on trail and lots of whitebark pines above 8,000 feet.

I arrived at park creek trailhead at approximitly 8:00 am a little breezy to start. It was a beautiful morning none the less. I enjoyed a brisk walk along the pacific crest trail and before long I arrived at the intersection for the four deadfall lakes. I stayed to the left most trail and bypassed the two lower lakes the trail weaved between the two upperlakes where I paused to take in the scenery. I proceeded up the trail to the saddle. As I walked on towards the summit I was amazed at how well the trail was disguised along the ridge. I thought it was an excellent job of trail engineering. I huffed and puffed on up to the top arriving at 10:20 am. I am awe struck by the beauty of this area. The vertical above the valley was impressive. I am surley bieng beckoned by the allure of the Trinity range. It would also be cool to check out the marble mountains area. Mt shasta reigns supreme over this nor cal region. I hope to come back in the spring looks Like a great ski mountain.

Darn! I missed seeing the other SP-ers who summited the same day! I went up the S. side trail and got to the top at 12:20 - started back down at 12:30. The frogs were so loud they could be easily heard from the summit - and that's about 2,000' above the lakes!

The route I took is a good alternative to the usual way in from the lakes.

Excellent day!

Very surprised at how nice this area was. The nearby Trinity Alps really "peaked" my interest. Beware of the first stream crossing in early season, had to take off the boots on the first one.......only about 150 yards from the car! Anna is right, amazing frog display in the second highest lake. Lots of snow from the upper lakes to the pass, actually had a small, but fun glissade on the way back. Love Nor Cal.

It must be some sort of SP tradition to climb Mt. Eddy on July 4th. As I was reading the summit logs I noticed 5 other members who have done the same in the past couple years. Anyway....

I climbed with my very best partner, Tom (some know him better as Cornvallis). A gorgeous day with plenty of snow around the lakes, the noisiest frogs I've ever heard, more solo female hikers than I've seen on any other trail, and a cookin' hot sunburn of a summit stay. Phenomenal views from the top: Mt. Shasta, the surrounding mini-ranges (to the south and west), and all the way north to Mt. McLoughlin.

Left the Parks Creek Trailhead at 10:15 am and was at the Summit by 1pm. Very windy today but sitting behind the summit structure blocked the wind fine. No one else on the summit, no one else on the trail. Saw a para-glider above Lake Siskiyou.

Found the summit register to be a complete mess, will have to go back up and fix that. Left the summit by 1:30pm and made it back to the trailhead by 3:15pm. Coming down from the summit I bypassed the trail and shot straight down the ridgeline. Trying to climb up scree isn't very fun but going down it is. I plunged stepped the whole way down to the saddle in about 10 minutes, really saved a lot of time.

All in all a strenuous but enjoyale hike, the views from the summmit are fantastic.

As Bob mentioned, it was neat to meet up with Bill (derbilly) on the summit. One of the locals thought it was pretty funny that we had climbed Shasta the day before as he commented that "most people climb Mt. Eddy as a conditioner for climbing Mt. Shasta, not the other way around" Well, it seemed logical to me as Mt. Eddy is the peak we were looking at as we climbed Shasta.

A great viewpoint for Shasta of course, Shasta is just boom, so right in your face. Also, a nice spot to enjoy as we spent two hours on the summit enjoying the views in all directions and the social aspect. Nice hike.
