Go up the Slide Trail, well worth the steep ups as it is scrambly and fun.

Climbed with Liberty via the Liberty Spring Trail from Franconia Notch. A great weather day indeed! We were the only ones there. Nice views of the Kinsmans and of the Franconias from Flume's rocky summit. A nice place to stop and have lunch before returning back over to Liberty.

Flume was the final peak we climbed coming from Garfield Ridge and on our way to Lincoln Woods in one long day. It was nice to look back across the full Franconia Range to see how far we had come.

Everything they say about Flume Slide Trail is true. You go and go wondering when you'll go up - then you regret asking. Really a fun hike, but a good workout too. Crystal clear day.

Hiked up the Flume Slide Trail, it was the first hot day of the year, yet there was still a little snow left on top. Very unique hike. Loved it.

A fun climb up the slide. VERY icy. front point rigid crampons are a necessity if you are going to follow the trail and not bushwhack up through the woods on either side. The ice is hard water ice, so be prepared. The summit is very cool in the summer or the winter although it is impressive with the sweep of the west face covered in snow below you.

A nice quiet peak on the otherwise busy Franconia Ridge.

Like a time-lapse movie of springtime, but running in reverse as I went up: dry at bottom, then mud & runoff, then soft "rotted" snow, then a nasty mix of ice and bare/wet rock. The flume slide itself was downright scary in places, wet as all hell except where it was covered in sheet ice... and I was climbing solo. Next time I'll bring a buddy, if only to hold the camera while I cling to the rock for dear life.

Up on the ridge the snow was pretty stable, late winter conditions, an easy walk and no problems on the ridge or the descent.
