| Nice little hike which kicked off a long day of both Frissell in CT, and Greylock in MA. Superb late summer weather greeted us and made both very enjoyable. State HP #9 and 10! | ||

| My 6th state highpoint but the first HP I hiked specifically becasue it was a highpoint. So really, I guess this is where my highpointing journey started. Hiked it from the New York side over Brace and South Brace. Also biked the Summit road a couple of years later. | ||

| This was a nice little climb to the top of Round Mountain and Mt. Frissell and on to the three state marker. Very few people on the trails. The views were beautiful and trails well marked. | ||

| I don't know why everyone is fussing over finding some cairn below the summit, all I wanted to do was hike to the top of one of Massachusetts' more beautiful southwestern summits. ;-) It had been raining a good portion of the day by the time I arrived after summiting Greylock earlier in the day. This rain did not let up for the entire 2 hours I was on the trail, but it also kept away any other visitors. The solitude was a pleasant surprise. The steeper portions can get a little dicey when wet but should not be a big problem for experienced hikers. Not much in terms of views thanks to the cloud cover and dense foliage, but I don't mind -- it was great time in the wilderness. (Always is.) SHP #19 | ||

| .. of the bear kind. In all the times I've hiked & camped in 'bear Country' - 1st time I came up on one in the brush as the side of the trail. Scared the crap outta me... fortunately - he (?) was more scared than I... as he took off into the brush.. and I (warily) proceedeed to exit.. stage left! HP #20 | ||

| The top was gorgeous. There was some snow and it was snowing lightly. We visited the highpoint and the summit. At the summit we signed and looked through the log book. It was an awesome day! | ||

| Screwed this one up trying to hit the high point just before dark. Went to the top of Frissell, had a bad feeling about it being the actual high point (I thought the HP was between Frissell and Round Mtn, not past Frissell), but couldn't find the real marker. Went back to civilization, got on SP and realized my mistake. Went back up and found the real summit in the dark :P 35 to go! | ||

| There were a couple of parts of the trail where I had to use my hands. I thought that I might not find the HP, but I just kept doing and I eventually found it. The trail is not well marked past the summit. | ||

| Climbed on a 96 degree CT day, which was fairly brutal. Somehow I brought Texas weather with me. Pretty place though, view from the High Point reminded me a little of Magazine Mountain in Arkansas. The trail was a little steeper than I had imagined too. | ||
