First Highpoint!  Sucess!

This was my brother's and my first high point. We regretted that we didn't bring bug spray along with us, but it was a pretty easy hike and we had some really great views since it was such a beautiful day.

My seventh state highpoint, and a very enjoyable hike!

HP #1!  Sucess!

The one that started it all. Hiked up in beautiful, loved the scrambling, hiked out to the tri-state marker. I'm planning to take my Dad there later this month-I want to get him into highpointing, too, and this is a great start!

#22 SHP, in 1987  Sucess!

Vanessa and I, toward the end of the second year of our highpoint quest, hiked to the highpoint from the Connecticut side, and did not actually go to the Massachusetts summit of Frissell, only to the marker at the state line.

HP #10  Sucess!

This was my 10th highpoint and my dad's 3rd. We kept second guessing ourselves, but by keeping on the red trail we found it! A good hike all around!

HP #19  Sucess!

My wife and I did this highpoint after doing Rhode Island's highpoint. This was definately the more exciting of the two. Unfortunately, there was so much fog that there were no views and it decided to rain a bit. It was some great scrambling however. Made it down just before dark.

What Jenkins said  Sucess!

Great hike for kids - just enough to make it challenging for 10 and under. Hike was less than 45 minutes though so make sure you have other things to do if you head out there.

Edit: Doh! Missed it the first time, due to heavy clouds/rain and poor guidebook descriptions.

Don't dis the Fris  Sucess!

Took us longer to find the right trailhead than to hike this. We missed the large state line marker as we were looking for a sign on the other side of the road, not a large concrete post on the left side of the road (if you are driving in). Still, an enjoyable hike up the rocks in the rain and wind. Now views though. Tagged both the state highpoint and the summit.

Edit-The above entry, from 9/26/08, is incorrect. Realized on 10/2/10 when we did this, Frissell and Brace that we only tagged Round Mountain in 2008. Since the views were nil, we never realized we were not on Frissell. So, on 10/2/10, after realizing this on a beautiful day, we went over, tagged the high point, then Brace, then on the way back, the true summit of Frissell (in MA) which is just about 10 yards to the right when you come over from Round. There is a summit register there (looks like an old mailbox on a tree nearby a cairn) too. Nice views of Riga Lake from the highpoint.

Great views!  Sucess!

Great views from up there. Wife and I were a little freaked out driving on that gravel road for like 12 total miles or so seeing all those no trespassing signs. Still, I won't forget the view up there on a crisp September afternoon.

HP #13 - plus summit and CT-MA-NY tripoint  Sucess!

Approximate date - I took the Frissell trail west along the CT-MA border to the summit, then DOWN to the highpoint (that sounds so strange). Then I went to the tri-state point before heading back.

Mount Frissell (Southwest Shoulder)  Sucess!

Climbed via the South Taconic Trail from the Mount Washington Road. A fun, easy and short dayhike. Signed in at the summit register before heading over to the highpoint. Nice views of the Litchfield Hills and of Riga Lake and the South Resevoir. My fifth state highpoint!

Nice hike  Sucess!

This was a pleasant hike made better by the season's first snow flurries. A really nice area.

Two Steep Routes Taken...  Sucess!

In the early morning, I took both the South Taconic Trail and the Standard Route. I wanted to see the views of Round Mountain and Bear Mountain. These trails are much steeper than even I expected, but the scenery and viewpoints make it worth the trip.
This was the fourth of seven HPs (plus Washington, D.C.) I would reach in two days' time. HP #28 for me.

Surprising!  Sucess!

For Connecticut, this is quite surprising indeed! I didn't expect this at all. In fact, I figured the climb up this hill would be more similar to that of Rhode Island's daunting high point. I found that my expectations were faulty, however.

Very Hot  Sucess!

A hot day but defiantly worth it. The summit views are petty nice and the trail is fantastic.

HP #23  Sucess!

Ascended with my brother on our way back from Baxter State Park in Maine. I was surprised with the steepness of the terrain, expecting it to be much more gentle.
