| Dayhike out of North Lake, up via Piute Pass/Alpine Col and returning via Darwin Canyon/Mt. Lamarck. Goethe Lake is lined with absolutely HUGE boulders! I found the west side to be kind of tedious with a backpack a couple of years ago (and I'm pretty sure I swore off ever visiting the lake again at the time)... unfortunately, I found that the east side is no better.
I couldn't figure out why Secor rates the NE ridge as class 3-4; it seemed pretty easy, no more than class 3. Nice scramble on good rock though. The SE slopes, on the other hand, were kind of tedious--talus, and not the nice scree run I was hoping for. |
