Great View  Sucess!

I hiked to Mount Gould which has an elevation of 13005 feet. The trail starts at Onion Valley (9200') so the elevation gain is about 3800 feet. The trail goes up to Kearsarge pass first which has an amazing view.

Day Trip  Sucess!

From Burbank to summit and back in less than 24 hrs. Bivied in the parking log. Up the Kersarge pass trail, then off up the ridge, up over the summit and down the scary dangerous 3rd class into Golden Trout Lake and out that drainage. Solo

False summited on Gould  Sucess!

A 3 time loser of true perspective. Every time I climb this peak the false summit gets me. I still bag the peak but then again who bags what?

south ridge from kearsarge pass  Sucess!

A late start had me worried but t-storms never really developed. A quick hike from the pass and a fun summit block. The view was amazing on a really clear day.

Traversed from Dragon  Sucess!

Sand, sand, and more sand .. the summit block was fun though. Descended (well, plunge-stepped really) to Kearsage Pass. Wind was picking up, but otherwise a beautiful dayhike from Onion Valley.

Up the South Ridge from Kearsarge and down via Golden Trout Lake. Nice AM but smoke fills the Owens Valley below and views to the west. 4:30 CTC.

Perfect weather  Sucess!

Started off as a cloudy morning camped in the Alabama hills. by the time we got to Onion Valley, the weather was looking better. By noon, all was brilliant, not a cloud in the sky. Fresh snow made the summit a bit sketchy and for some cold hands. My first time back in the Sierra after two years...

Easy hike form the trail via the south ridge, continued on to Dragon Peak, which was much more fun.

Half Day Hike via Kearsage Pass  Sucess!

A conditioning hike for three more day hikes in the Sierra. Took a little over five hours. Great scree skiing from the ridge.

from Kearsarge Pass  Sucess!

Slogged up the south slope after a long day hike to West Vidette. Why you ask? Well, it was the Sierra Challenge and people do crazy things. I was so tired on the summit that I didn't have the energy to traverse to Dragon and instead dropped down to Golden Trout Lake. After a long day the tedious talus slopes and precipitous gullies leading to the lake were almost excruciating. Better to descend via Dragon.
