From near Guitar Lake
Somehow secured an overnight Whitney permit and camped above Guitar Lake. Cruised up Young and Hale before heading back. They're definitely not the tallest things around those parts!

Beautiful days, cool nights. One of my most favorite multi-day trips ever. Went on to Young afterwards.

Traversed high above Arctic lake and ascended the prominent gully. The fast sand descent left time to tag Mt. Young.

Dayhike with Richard P. We went up Mr into Wallce Creek, summited Mt. Hale, hiked over to the JMT, up Whitney and back down the MT.

Climbed a chute on the north side of saddle between Hale and Young. Lots of loose scree. In my notebook I wrote that it was probably class 3. I ripped out the crotch of my jeans during one long stemming move. Yes, there was 'exposure'. I continued on to summit Mt. Young and the un-named peak to the west.

Day 9 of the 2007 Sierra Challenge. Hiked with Bob via Iceberg Lake and Whitney-Russell Col. Then traversed to Mt. Young. Returned directly down the Upper Boy Scout Lake drainage.

Day Hike
Solo day hike over Sakai Col and onto Mt Hale and Mt Young. Left the house in San Pedro at 1AM, began hiking shortly after 5AM, hit Hale about noon (after a nap along the way) and Young shortly afterwards, back at home by 11PM.
