Drove to top, hiked some nearby HPs  Sucess!

Been up to the summit several times now by car, and hiked Connor Ridge HP, the radio towers and hang-glider launch on the road just north of the summit area, around Lake Cleveland, and the forest roads that go up Howell Canyon to the logging areas. Lots to do here. Have spotted marmots at the summit on every visit. Definitely want to come back to snowshoe!

Hurried Harrison  Sucess!

Spent only a few minutes on top, since a thunder cloud was hanging nearby. You could drive an RV to this one.

Chill Weekend  Sucess!

Camped out at Cleveland Lake, did some mountain biking off the life at Pomerelle. Drove to the top to check out the view. Paved all the way, count it…

Bike it!  Sucess!

I was staying in Albion for a family reunion and was still trying to train for an upcoming biketour and thought that some rides in this area would be beautiful this time of year. I remembered skiing at Pomerelle years ago and thought that would be a great ride. So I left albion expecting the road to stop there, then saw that it continued, and so did I. It was gated to cars shortly after this point at this time of year. I just carried my bike around and made it to Lake Cleveland. The road was still paved and kept going so why not! I came to a couple short 30 foot sections of snow drifts that Ihiked my bike over and before long was on the summit! Wonderful views, better than the taller Cache Peak to the south IMO. The best is how you can look from the top of the cirque to Lake Cleveland and then perfectly framed below is the small hamlet of Albion and then the vast Snake River Plain. I highly suggest this as a bike route, it is a little burly with ~ 4000 vertical from Albion, but the road is good and closed to cares about halfway this time of year. Yoou could make it shorter by driving part of the way up of course.

Sunny and Brutally Cold  Sucess!

A sunny, but brutally cold day, especially at the top where it is always windy. Climbed with friends via the path of the snow covered road, into the meadow, and line of least resistance to the top. We didn't stay up there long at all. Second attempt. First attempt was whited out and followed a fence line to the back of the ski area. Sometimes you just have to consider it exercise.

Whiteout  Sucess!

Good safe snowshoe route from the ski area. Lots of wind and fog on the summit made it feel like a grand adventure. The weather eventually cleared a bit in the afternoon for some views, hiked out amidst the snowmobilers. Here's a trip report and some photos.

Whiteout  Sucess!

This was a really fun showshoe. I did it with Super Dave. The visibility was awful all the way up and the winds were particularly fierce at the top but it was a great adventure.

snowshoe  Sucess!

snowshoed up from the snowmobile parking area just below the Pomerelle parking lot. There were snowmachine tracks everywhere which make for easy snowshoeing but I wouldnt recommend snowshoeing on a weekend

Road

The views are exceptional from the top of this mountain and this is an Idaho prominence peak. enjoyed a nice visit with the forest servicelookout who was a person who knew the area from long years of living in this portion of Idaho and I found his information to be helpful. I'd like to take my wife up so she could experience the
views.

Route Climbed: Snowbound Road Date Climbed: May 28, 2005  Sucess!

We got a late start because we had to help some people who had their truck stuck in the mud. The road had over 3 feet of snow covering it and Lake Cleveland was still half frozen. I was basically sinking with every step due to the warm weather that had made the snow very soft. On the summit a storm was hitting City of Rocks and the valley below. We hurried down before it hit us too.

Route Climbed: Snowbound Road Date Climbed: 11/29/2002  Sucess!

Followed the snowbound road. This would be lame in the summer, but is interesting in the winter. Did not see any snowmobiles, but the terrain would indicate that they could be prevalent in the area. Beware...

My dad took my brother and me fishing up at Lake Cleveland. I went scrambling instead. I realized on that trip that I'm not too into fishing.
