I'm still confused on the trailhead directions and I just did this one hours ago. I went by Sullivan's book and all his mileages were wrong. Maybe the logging roads have changed. There is no county line sign to measure 5 miles by. I just got lucky and pulled off at the right road for 7370. And Road 100 is a left off 7370, not a right. Anyway, I found the TH and started at sunrise at 7:15 am. Confusing junction not far into the hike, thankfully, someone made big arrows with branches on the ground. From there is was easy and I summitted at 8:35 am. Very windy and cold. Didn't linger long. Spooked a herd of elk on the trail on the way up. That made my heart skip a beat and they jolted into the woods. 20 minutes at the top taking photos and shivering. Then down in 1 hour 7 minutes and back to Portland in the rain with my windshield wipers not working. Ugh.

Thanks for the info on the trailhead, it's still a little confusing. Excellent views of the of the Elkhorn Mountains to the Northeast.

Had some difficulty finding the trailhead, actually took me a couple different times out driving around the mountain to locate it. Following the first part of the trail is also a doozy, takes a little trial and error to find the singletrack path which doesnt start until your about half a mile into the hike. Great view of the western elkhorns from here.
