Long hike  Sucess!

Long, dry hike to a shadeless summit. Definitely bring lots of water on this one. Great views from the top and lots of bugs when I was there.

Great Veiwpoint  Sucess!

I've been up twice. First time it was over 90 degrees and there is precious little shade near the top. Rhododendrons bloom in late spring on the first few miles of the ridge.

Good walk  Sucess!

Only car in the parking area, only person on the trail. Some loggers from Olympic Resource Mgmt were working uphill from the trail at about mile 2.5; one of them was on the trail to advise hikers. I was the first one he'd seen all day. We had a nice chat about the weather (lovely that day), managed forestry (he felt it gets a bad rap, and I agreed), and about the trail/climb. By the time I was above the Jupiter Lakes, scattered clouds started to blow about. Quick snack on the summit, and then the looong walk back. Now that I've seen Redwic's image of it (didn't even know it was there), I'm kinda bugged that I missed seeing the benchmarker. Oh well.

Dayhike and Bivouac  Sucess!

Did this as a dayhike once and bivouac once back in the early 90's. We were nearly eaten to death by mosquitos on the bivouac, but other than that very peaceful summit with great views of The Brothers and Mt. Constance.

A Rose for Jupiter  Sucess!

Wasn't Jupiter the Greek God of love? Redwic and I did Mount Rose late Friday night and then started this one early Saturday morning. We got soaked on the ridge top but the abundant slopes of Bear Grass, Rhododendron, Indian Paint Brush, and Lupine made up for it. Snow in June, what a kick!

Nice (But Long) Trail  Sucess!

I did this hike with fellow SPer "Gimpilator". I really enjoyed this trail, and I definitely plan to go back. Far-reaching views were ruined by lingering fog, rain drizzle, and cloud-cover. Wildflowers were blooming EVERYWHERE on the mountain slopes, but especially along the upper slopes. The mountain had no snow on it, but some snow flakes started falling on us while at the summit... It's JUNE!!! That should not be happening... but was awesome to experience. The Jupiter Lakes look inviting, but too dangerous to attempt (even on nice-weather days).
