Not my favorite route, with acres of choss followed by a short, sphincter-puckering notch. Note that the river crossing may be easier if you start at the Athabasca Glacier parking lot and cross Sunwapta Lake's input streams. They were only knee-deep at the worst in the afternoon. Trip report.
