Cherry on top  Sucess!

This was dessert after bagging Throop, Hawkins, and Middle Hawkins. Personally thought the views were "whatever," but catching the alpenglow and Belt of Venus up here was magical.

Quick climb from Dawson Saddle  Sucess!

Perfect for an out-of-shape guy like me. Lots of nice pines and some good views to the south and west. Views to the north were obstructed by trees.

Just Lewis today  Sucess!

Windy, rainy, and foggy...only did Lewis and decided to come back another day for the bigger peaks nearby.

9 Peak Day  Sucess!

Heather and I parked below Windy Gap at 7am and then hiked up Baden-Powell, Burnham, Throop, Hawkins, Middle Hawkins, and Islip. We got back to the car at 2pm and then drove around hiking up Akawie, Winston, and Lewis. The next day we did both summits of Twin Peaks as well as Waterman.

From Dawson Saddle  Sucess!

With only half a Sunday to spare, I drove up Angeles Crest Highway and decided to bag all the peaks within easy reach. First up was Lewis. The use trail starts off pretty steep, but is easily vanquished by any fit hiker. Wandered around the summit trying to determine the highest point. Unable to find a register. Glimpses of views through the trees.

From Dawson Saddle  Sucess!

Arrived at Dawson Saddle after climbing Baden Powell, Burnham, and Throop. Mt. Lewis was a quick little climb. The most dangerous part of the day was walking back to Vincent Gap to the car. Lots of rocks falling down on to ACH while I walked.

a quickie  Sucess!

I used to love how you could just park the car and do a quick hike up to an 8,000 foot peak. Did this many times with friends when we were driving the Angeles Crest. A short hike with a big peak reward.

From the Cedar Springs road closure  Sucess!

Hiked in the spring of 2006. At the Cedar Springs road closure, we biked a little past Islip Saddle and then snowshoed to Dawson Saddle and up Mt. Lewis. Truly a wonderful day with not one soul in sight the whole day! Pics are here:
