| Wow. 14ers in the summer are really easy! Mountaineered up Democrat but then followed the cattle trail the rest of the way around the loop. Good weather despite the lateness of our arrival. | ||

| I climbed Lincoln between Democrat and Bross from Kite Lake. It took me five hours car to car. The weather was cool and windy and a snow squall blew through on my way from Cameron to Bross. | ||

| Flew in from Seattle, rented a car, drove to the trailhead, and did the Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln circa all in one day! Was feeling the affects of altitude quite a bit. We descended down from Lincoln in the dark, got in the car, and drove off to the trailhead of Mount Elbert. We approached Lincoln after climbing Democrat and approached via the saddle between Lincoln and Cameron. May not officially get the credit since we didn't descend and ascend 3000 ft (?) but we stood on the summit and it was still fun! | ||

| Summit was thick with fog so finding the summit from the plateau near Cameron was kind of fun. I remember mistaking a seated person for a cairn! Memorable! | ||

| RyanS | Route Climbed: Lincoln Amphitheatre Date Climbed: August 7, 2002 ![]() | |
| We followed Roach's directions for this challenging route up Lincoln, and they worked well. The crux was crossing the Middle Fork of the South Platte, actually. Climbing up near the falls areas (where people ice climb in the winter) was a hoot -- some of the falls are quite lovely, including one that spills over this cube of a rock. Some bush belays are handy, and it would suck to climb this route when it's muddy. The Amphitheatre is somewhat laborious to cross due to a lot of big boulders. Some abnormally large spiders with webs stretching b/w the boulders in the low areas made our crossing even more interesting. A miserable scree slope led us to Lincoln's summit area. We descended our ascent route, just beating out an incoming storm. It started to rain while we packed up our gear at the TH. This route takes longer than its stats would indicate: 4.0 miles, 3370', but it took us 3.5 hours to summit. A trip report is available here | ||

| RyanS | Route Climbed: DeCaLiBron Date Climbed: June 5, 2002 ![]() | |
| I soloed the DeCaLiBron. I was very pleased that the road had been grated because otherwise, my Prizm wouldn't have made it to Kite Lake. A few inches of snow fell the night before, but it melted very quickly. I though Democrat was the best of the trio. | ||

| Summited from Platte gulch with climb of the north face couloirs on democrat. This route was very quiet, and I recommend it for the (somewhat) technically minded climbers. | ||
