mountainloverCOFranconia Ridge Traverse  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 21, 2007

Hit this one after Mt. Lafayette, and saw our first views of the day! The wind and clouds started to lift, and we could finally see how beautiful the hike really was.

Good weather until nightime(rain). Couldn't find a good spot for the tent so ended up bivying under a tarp.

bigwillyPemmi traverse  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 30, 2006

Climbed it as part of a four day Pemmi wilderness traverse from Lincoln woods to Crawford notch. Fog rolled in right as we reached the summit and we didn't see anything.

Water trail is beautiful and full of water cascades, duh. Ridgeline traverse is a BEAUTY! One of the best in the eastern US. Went over Lincoln and to Lafayette.

outdoors4sure37Route Climbed: Bridle Path to Greenleaf to Franconia Ridge to Falling Waters Date Climbed: December 28, 2005  Sucess!

Clear and overcast for the second of the two 5000 footers on the ridge. Felt like i could reach out and touch Washington to the East and Mansfield farther to the west.

Above the Greenleaf Hut, the wind blew the clouds away and it was a glorious summit day. A very clever piece of route finding to avoid the gendarme on the south ridge. Terrific views (even Washington eventually cleared). And every time I got tired on the Falling Waters trail I turned around and saw another beautiful waterfall!

rain and fog were the downside, solitude due to weather the upside
