Better than Naomi  Sucess!

Followed ridge over from Naomi after summiting that peak. Magog , though a couple hundred feet lower, is the better peak. Fun route, great views (especially down to White Pine Lake), and no people. Descending I dropped into the small basin to the South and picked my way down through a series of small drops back to the main Naomi trail about 2 miles form the TH. The terrain here is open enough, and the cliff bands have enough openings, that you can really pick whatever routes you like.

Just Magog  Sucess!

Hiked up here with some of my in laws. My bro-in-law lives in Texas and the elevation was getting to him. We started late but were able to do the round trip from the Naomi backcountry trailhead in about 4 hours or so. Great views all around. Took the SW ridge up and descended a hollow between the S and SE ridges.

from Tony Grove  Sucess!

I took a direct route off the Mount Naomi trail -then later found that following that trail farther would have been preferable.

Magog  Sucess!

7/10/2013 I made the fun little side trip to Magog after climbing Naomi Peak. Great peak with great views. I was half tempted to try to find a way down to White Pine Lake and out that way, but opted to stick with what was familiar.

Slog down Magog  Sucess!

This is one sexy mountain! There is no getting around it, and it was truly fun to climb along the southwest ridge traversing over from Mt. Naomi. The views from the top were spectacular, so fun to look over the edge down to White Pine Lake. However a nice man told Abrennaline Rush and I that he came up the easy way from the basin due south below. We decided to come back this route and it was not the easy way! Steep and lots of loose rocks heading back this route! However there were hidden basins that were gorgeous, and it was a great adventure. Awesome peak and worth the traverse.

OMG (OHMAGOG!)  Sucess!

We did this as a bonus peak after summiting Naomi, but to be honest, the ascent was more fun and the views were more rewarding atop Magog. Perfect vantage point for Naomi, Gog, White Pine Lake, and Tony Grove Lake, and all of the surrounding environs - just gorgeous! We encountered a fellow who had summited Magog multiple times, and he told us the route that we took (southwest ridge traverse over from Naomi) was the "hard" way. We took his advice and followed the "easy" way down and back to the trail to Tony Grove. 'Twas slow going and not really easy at all (steeeeep descent in between the southwest and southeast ridges), but a fun adventure nonetheless!

Great View  Sucess!

Fun spring ski with a great view on top. Skied down the cool little south facing chute and across amazing terrain all the way back to the car. Skin up was really chill due to some excellent route finding by my husband :)

Spring Ski  Sucess!

Drove to the snow (about a mile from trail head) skinned up to the top for a great view and fun decent with my awesome wife. Perfect weather and had the whole area to ourselves (no sleds). Great 1/2 day summit!

Traverse from Mt. Naomi  Sucess!

Summited Mt. Naomi first, then did traverse to Mt. Magog. Well worth it, in spite of abrupt weather change as we approached Magog.

Good sidetrip  Sucess!

Hiked to the top as a sidetrip on a Tony Grove to Bunchgrass bike ride.

Magog  Sucess!

Nice little scramble if you stay close to the west ridge. North Face looks to be a potentially decent climbing route.

Magog  Sucess!

One of the coolest climbs in the Bear River Range. I could not make out much of a trail, via the Southwest Ridge, but it was easy enough to find the route to the top. Well worth it!

Brilliant  Sucess!

I liked this hike better than Naomi. It has more exposure and adventure. I also found the entrance to a large cave that goes straight down in the area, so watch where you step!

Magog  Sucess!

I’ve climbed Mount Magog two times, August 19, 1998 and September 6, 2009. It’s a fun hike along with other peaks in the area. Great view and cool summit cliffs.
