| ZeeJay | Brighton Ridge Run ![]() Date Climbed: May 28, 2008 | |
| Parked at the gate on the Guardsman Pass Road. Hiked up the west ridge of 10420. Hit 10420, Clayton, Preston/10315, 10321, Pioneer Peak, and Sunset Peak. Descended to Brighton via Lake Catherine. Great snow conditions. We didn't need either snowshoes or crampons. With Anne Perry. My 15th time up here. | ||

| Skinned up from the base of the Crest Express lift at Brighton, to the backcountry entry point at the top of that lift. Of course the ski resort was closed for the season. Went along the pioneer ridge to Pioneer Peak. From the Pioneer Peak I back tracked, and continued along the ridge line bagging Preston Peak, Clayton Peak, and unnamed peak at N 40.60001 W 111.55839 (1.0 km N 8° as the crow flies from Clayton Peak at 10,420 ft). The whole trip, with breaks and everything took 5.5 hours. | ||

| Did Clayton and a few other peaks as well. Great views and a perfect day. 7/23/2009- I did Honeycomb Cliffs in the morning before work and decided to do Clayton after. It was 100 degrees in the valley, but in the 70's on the summit with some nice cloud cover. The mosquitoes were atrocious though. 7/21/10- Before work with Matt Van Horn. 8/24/11- Part of a 24 mile 8300 ft day that started in Lambs Canyon. | ||

| My 6th time at the summit. Of course, snow all the way, but many spots were surprisingly thin, evidence of below-normal-snowfall this season in the Wasatch. With good friends Lana and Kim. Beautiful views throughout the climb but a fast-moving storm brought wind and snow and forced us off of the rock-strewn summit. Took about 1.5 hours up and 1+15 down. Seventh time on the summit was part of the Brighton Ridge Run on 9-04-07 with Brent, Lana and Kim. 8th time on top part of Brighton Ridge Run with Brent on 7-29-08. This variation of the ridge run begins at Bear Trap Fork TH below the Silver Fork Lodge in BCC and, for us, included Silver Peak, Scott Peak, Guardsman Peak, 10,420', Clayton and Preston Peaks. There was a mailbox at the summit of Clayton Peak but we didn't have time to look inside! 9th on 4-21-09 See write up of ridge run on Mt. Wolverine summit log. #10 4-20-10 Part of Brighton Ridge run w/ Brent, Dave and Walt. Hit 9 10ers with Millicent being the last. #11 on 9-14-10 w/ JP Lewis. Bear Trap Fork to Desolation Peak and south along all of them to here. Down to Brighton parking lot and thumbed a ride down to the car at the Bear Trap Fork "trailhead." #13 12-27-11 Solo Brighton Ridge winter ridge run from Guardsman Peak to Twin Lakes Pass. Lots of exposed boulders on top of this one! | ||

| Had some awesome views up there, met a few nice people on top and climbing up. Also, got stung by a bee on the summit. Nice little hike. | ||

| I put off climbing this peak because I thought it to be too easy and therefore unrewarding. I was wrong. I climbed it from Guardsman Pass and assended a couple of smaller peaks first. The wildflowers were vibrant, the rocky ridge before the summit was fun and we had a Golden Eagle fly close overhead just as we approached the summit. I could see over twenty peaks that I have been on from from here. A great short hike! | ||

| My seventh peak as part of the Brighton Ridge Run. I had the mountain to myself, and a spiritual experience on the top reading the 'mail' left in the box. Too bad the mountain is marred by the ski run, but still a natural beauty. I quite enjoyed the rock stairs trail to the top. | ||

| I had planned on hiking the Brighton Ridge Run but the weather was getting bad so I opted to climb Clayton Peak instead. It turned out to be a smart choice. Good view of all the mountains above Brighton. I could see people camping down below at Lackawaxen Lake. | ||

| Another enjoyable half day peak. I found the route from Guardsman Pass (you can avoid the private property) to be more interesting than the standard Brighton route. | ||

| My wife and I camped on the very summit during a cold snap one January. The temp dropped to -23F, but there was no wind at all, and the air was completely calm. This still remains the coldest temp we've camped in. | ||
