from Norway Pass trailhead  Sucess!

with Greg. A spectacular view of Mount Saint Helens eruption field and Spirit Lake, etc. Somewhat smoky distance views due to some lingering wildfires.

Good views  Sucess!

This peak has good views but my hiking partner and I thought Mount Whittier had the better route, views, and summit.

2nd Peak of the day  Sucess!

After deciding to move on from Coldwater Peak. This trip was basically a trailed traverse on the Boundary. Snakes, frogs, and goats galore! There were a few snow patches in the last mile or so, but nothing too tough to negotiate. The small summit block was a fun scramble. From there, Maddie and I took the same route back to the Observatory. Long, rewarding day!

Margaret  Sucess!

From Norway Pass trailhead. The east side of the mountain had a lot of snow to hike through to the summit. Great view of four volcanoes and love the view of Spirit Lake from here.

Great Views  Sucess!

Did this one back in '06. I camped at Bear camp and climbed Whitter and Margaret the following day. Relatively easy climb with some great views of Spirit Lake and the mouth of St. Helens. All in all the weekend was an amazing trip.

All Alone with a bugling elk  Sucess!

Did Coldwater Peak earlier in the day and hiked the ridge over from there. As I sat at the summit munching, I was treated to an elk bugling from down below. I had seen one coming over and would run into one with a big rack on the way back. Truly a unique place.
