Instead of signing individual climbing logs, I will just put the rest of my ascents in one spot. Did MM three more times, twice with friends and one with Eugene Mountain Rescue looking for a climber who, unfortunately, had died on the mountain. On my last trip, summited with Dave M., then drove to Pilot Rock and climbed that a few hours later.

This was my 1st climb of McLoughlin, and was a fun trip. The most memorable things that happened were that on the way, an f-18 flew RIGHT above us, must have only been 100' above tree level, one of the most deafening sounds I have ever heard, and then, there was a small cloud hovering over the summit the whole day, and I was so paranoid about lightning after being chased off Black Crater by a thunderstorm a few weeks earlier, I was terrified of actually reaching the summit and when I did I only spent a few minutes on top before heading down.

First time I tried to stay on the trail and had a terrible time with the scree. Second Time I just went up the ridge sticking to the rocks and had a much more enjoyable hike.

planned on a backpacking trip, reached about 8000ft at dusk. Made camp. Most interesting wind storm moved our steaked-in tent 4 ft with us in it thru the night... rain and approaching storm turned us down with only a little left to go. easy hike. will return in summers to come

Hit the trailhead at 9:30; a little later than usual but a nice breeze picked up to cool us off once we broke the treeline. Finished in seven hours, which included several breaks on the way up and at the summit. Would avoid this on the weekends due to non-mountainy types who weren't exactly feelin' the love.

Came down to Ashland to visit my brother and climb around the Ashland and Medford area. We left his apartment at four and started the hike at 5:20am. We were going to make the climb the day before but was not sure about the parking permits. Bought one at the ranger station but found out later there are permits at the TH. Summited in about four and a half hours. Great view on an almost perfect day! Tripped on the way down and scuffed up my knee a bit. Made it back down in three hours.

This hike with the boys was their Father's Day obligation to me. Started up the trail at 0745 with Jill, Kyle, and Rico. Reached summit a little before 1. It was cold in the am, but warm on the descent and the mosquitoes definitely had woken up on our way back.

An awesome hike/scramble. Beautiful day, mild temps. No bugs!Left the TH at 8:35 and summited in 3:15 with a nice easy pace. Stayed there for about 30 minutes then headed down. Good thing I had marked waypoints on the GPS as I got too far south on the way down, then had to find a good spot to traverse over to the official trail. Even with that got down in 2:15. A super awesome hike, recommended with enthusiam.

If I can only climb one Mountain from now on, it would be McLoughlin. The view extends from The Sister (Eugene) all the way down to Lassen (Reading). This years view was the best I have ever seen. Bottom of Shasta whited out, but top appeared to be floating above the Earth. The old look out shelter getting less and less every year. 1999, 2000, (back and knee injuries washed out 2001-03) 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. Every year getting harder, but more rewarding. Most bang for your buck. Well over ten major peaks in view this year!!!
