| Rather easy summit, but enjoyable non-the-less. Took the side trail down to the campground and back up again to tell myself I did something. Tell end of an epic adventure. | ||

| As it was a rainy miserable day, Bob Schultz and myself elected to do a short hike up to the summit, as opposed for a more ambitious one planned, or out and out driving to the top. | ||

| Long, many grueling switchbacks, but smooth, few rocks, no scrambling, few views of the Smokey’s until very top, highest peak in NC and East of the Mississippi | ||

| This is a wonderfull climb. At the top you can see (on a clear day) Clingmans Dome in the GSMNF. After a long climb to the top, you get to see all of the people who drove up. You are tired and they are not. Nice. | ||

| Haven't been there in some time but it is a beautiful area of the Appalachian mountains. My father's side of the family settled in this area early on and were among the searchers who found Dr. Mitchell's body in 1857. | ||

| I live in NC, so I've been to the top of Mount Mitchell a number of times. Most people I know are usually socked in when they get to the peak, but I've been fortunate in that the weather has cooperated with clear skies almost every trip I've made. | ||

| This is the long way. From Carolina Hemlocks Campground take the Colbert Ridge trail to Deep Gap then Deep Gap trail to Mt. Mitchell. The Deep Gap Trail crosses 4 peaks, theres alot of up and down. We came back via the Buncome Pack Trail. This trail crosses several old camps Where the trail isn't readily apparent. This round trip is about 18 miles. There are campsites at Deep Gap. | ||

| This is actually a really fun bike ride. We rode up the Blue Ridge Pkwy from Asheville to Mount Mitchell. It wound up being a big ride with monster elevation gain... more like climbs out in the Rockies. Very fun, highly recommended. Apparently the 'Assault on Mount Mitchell' bike ride/race is supposed to be awesome too. | ||

Have also biked up the road to the summit of Mitchell numerous times starting from Marion .Excellent Downhill if you can avoid the slow moving cars. | ||

| I took the very wet and overgrown Mt. Mitchell trail up to the summit. The 5.6 mile trail is not easy, but was reasonable with no part of the trail being excessively steep. There are not many great views from this trail, but the few views you get are pretty nice. At the summit the highest mountains were all clearly visible, while the low mountains were shrouded in clouds. Mt. Mitchell is far more isolated than what I thought it would be for a tourist mountain. We only saw two people on the trail the entire time. This was my 21st state high point. Happy to say I have completed almost the entire Southeast...FL, AL, GA, SC, NC, TN, KY, VA, WV, MD, LA....just Mississippi remains. | ||

| I have been up here two or three times but I cannot remember the year nevermind the day! A couple of those times the fog was too thick for any views. But there was one time that I was up there when it was sunny and nice and the view from the lookout tower was very nice. I guess I cannot count this highpoint unless I know the specific date so I may come back here again. | ||
