| Started at the standard Whitney TH @ 6.14, after insufficient sleep the night before (got to Alabama Hills ~23.00 the night before- ouch). Made good time, finally catching up with the front Challenge group (those guys are fast!). After getting to the basin/plateau below the peak, I decided to take the slabs climber's L of the summit- I think that this greatly reduced the energy waste associated with getting up the thing. Sean (what a machine!) & Bob beat me to the top. Summited @10.24. Ensuing traverse to Russell was sketch. | |
