Blue sky, no wind and 60F- this is late December? Took advantage of the unseasonally fine weather to get a nice hike in. Very glad I did!

60 Degree December Hike
Wore shorts and a t-shirt for today's summit of Mount Morrison. 60 degree weather made for a pleasant late morning/early afternoon hike. We took the south slopes route. Pretty steep route that gives you a good little workout. Clear skies today from Longs Peak down to Pikes Peak. Fantastic views of the Denver Metro and Front Range. Fun little scrambling opportunity just under the summit.

Great views of Red Rocks Amphitheater
Lots of elevation gain in this short bugger with amazing views of some of the big boys out west like Mt Evans and Pikes Peak!

1st Peak Since Moving Here
Hiked/ran up and then explored down to the towers looking for a route down the northeast to Matthews Winters with no success. Then came back up and ran down. 90 minutes roundtrip...would've been just over an hour to the summit and back.
It was a clear day, so from the top I could see Pikes Peak to the south, Mt Evans to Gray's Peak to the West, and Long's Peak to the North. Pretty cool to see many of the Front Range 14ers from one easy to get to spot in town.
One of my Mom's co-workers and I hiked to the top (and back down) back in the mid-1970s when we lived in Golden. I do not know the exact date but it would have been in 1976 most likely.

A challenging hike close to town. Some scrambling was required near the summit (had to help our dog a bit), but from the top we had a great 360 view. Be mindful of the loose rock and dirt on the way down.

Awesome steep hike. I just moved out here 2 weeks ago and it beat my ass. Was surprised how rugged it was near the top. Deff a good training hike

A nice hike with my wife after returning to CO after a week at sea level. It was a little windy, but not bad. We enjoyed seeing Red Rocks from a different vantage point.

Have climbed Mt Morrison many times by multiple routes. It's a great hike to have close to the city. Found a mule deer antler on a previous hike!
