Fun & easy jaunt. 1,500 ft. elevation gain in the 1.5 hrs to the summit. Patches of fresh snow; waterfalls off the rocky bench. Summit ridge of brick red argillite - beautiful. No evidence of a summit register, but fossils everywhere. Non-technical; used only plastic mtn boots & gaiters. Took crampons & axe but used neither.
My 1st trip to Glacier--unforgettable. My husband has spent many, many days climbing there & had always longed to share the grandeur with me. Grizzly was next to boardwalk the next day.

|The most accessible of Glacier's real-deal peaks, Oberlin is a real treat with limited effort. |

|We were always saving Mount Oberlin, the shortest easiest summit climb in Glacier Park, for "one of those days". |
The day came on 17 July 1982 - 6 inches of new snow, cold and blustery - summer in Montana!
Climbed with Monica Spicker.
30 years later - did as a side trip on the way to Clements - 5 Sept. 2012 - alone.
