West Slab  Sucess!

Nice approach and fun climb, traversed below the ridge then up a chute to the top. Down climbed alittle then rapped a small tree to the saddle between the N and S summits. Then up a chute to the main summit, which had a nice Mountain Goat on it's north face. Hiked down the trail (I think the climb would be easier then hiking up the trail) to my bike, to get back to the car. Cool mountain, to bad the city is so close. Another one bagged with my wife.

Many Climbs Up the Most Popular Central Wasatch Peak  Sucess!

No need for the laundry list.

Last climb was in winter. Despite the recent snowfall, the trail was trodden down and frozen over. Ran up to the saddle overlooking Heughs Canyon, donned gaiters, and made the short scramble over snow (surprisingly, no one had made the true summit since the storm)to the summit.

Still haven't made the north summit via the West Slabs. If anyone is interested, feel free to PM me.

This was the first mountain I ever climbed. It started an obsession...

Do you need a first aid kit?  Sucess!

If you trail run down, I highly suggest not falling. On the plus side, if you DO fall, the blood dripping down your leg will look really super cool, and everyone will move out of your way so you can keep running uninterrupted! (Or perhaps it's because they're afraid you have a highly communicable disease...? Whichever.) My only regret from this day is not hula hooping at the summit. Learn from my mistakes, friends!

It's the Climb  Sucess!

Can You Say Up Up and Up. This hike has a lot of elevation in a short time, but it is very manageable, the final scramble to the top was a lot of fun, a lot more intimidating than it actually is. The views are gorgeous! Totally worth the climb as Miley said.

Good Climb!  Sucess!

Climbed it with a co-worker today. It was hot for early June--95-96 degrees! Had a great time, and made it up in just over 2 hours. We saw a rattlesnake on the way up.

Going down I always seem to take the wrong route and have to scramble a bit more than necessary, so if you aren't a regular on this mountain, be sure to kind of take note of the route you use to get up to the summit. It will save you from some sketchy areas getting back down to the trail.

First time up there  Sucess!

We got up early this morning and started before the sun came up. The last section from the saddle to the top was my favorite part. Going down to the bottom sucks, I only fell once. There were tons of flies at the saddle area today.

View View View

I had 4 hours to spare so I hiked the west face of Mount Olympus. I didn't follow any specific trail which made the ascent pretty fun.

The hike had amazing views and some scrambling areas about half way up. I didn't quite make the summit as I ran out of time but if I go back to Salt Lake, I'll definitely hit it again if I have time.

So this happened  Sucess!

I really liked the scrambling portion of this hike. We ran down the trail and it was probably the best thing ever. I was sorry that everyone coming up were hiking in such heat!

great one  Sucess!

Went solo through 1 ft of snow posthole-ing the entire way and decided after this hike to finally invest in snowshoes after I waded through some snow up to my waist for the last little stretch. But it was awesome and I love this peak in winter. Had done it once in fall too. My favorite central Wasatch view and peak. One of the first I climbed upon moving to Utah and the elevation was making me suffer to walk to the store but I had to climb this thing as soon as I learned what its name was and where the trail began. I was near dead at the top that first time and some local made fun of me. Think of this the next time the Jazz run a visiting team off the basketball court.

West Slabs  Sucess!

Was a little tricky navigating our way over to the main summit in the dark. Lots of fun though!

Fun spring snow  Sucess!

Had a blast, bought crampons after this summit. Slippery fun!

Also did a summer summit in 2011.

SLC View  Sucess!

Used to run this in High School. It was a bit tougher now that I am out of shape. I love the views of the city then the ranges. There are way too many stupid people who take this hike with not enough water and get stuck (happened 3 times in that week that I climbed).

Mount Olympus Trail  Sucess!

Topped out today with my son & wife for the first time. Steep! Summit was about 70 degrees with no wind. Beautiful. Had the summit to ourselves for over an hour, and enjoyed the quiet. The class 3 section was fun!

Great mountain!

Go Utes!

Mount Olympus Trail  Sucess!

9/20/09 - Began climbing with Daniel and Billy at 5 am to catch the sunrise, and was not disappointed. The overly melodramatic notes in the register cracked us up.

1/23/11 - Hike with the Eug on a clear, inversionless day. Had the summit to ourselves.

7/11/11 - Evening solo hike involving a hasty summit to avoid approaching thunderclouds. A light, pleasant rain caught up with me on the descent.

1/1/12 - Hike with Jess and Dave; glissaded a good part of the way down. Happy New Year!

6/20/12 - Solo in the morning/ early afternoon.
