Furher Finger, 1st glacier climb  Sucess!

The best time of my life. The finger was great, did it by moonlight. Was completely exhausted by the summit which was blowin' at over 60mph. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!

Windy Summit  Sucess!

This was the first time I've climbed Ranier and it was unbelievable. We took the Emmons route and it was awesome weather the whole way. Summit day it got pretty windy on the way up and towards the top there were some scetchy spots but we made it. At the summit the winds were about 50 mph and almost took us out. All in all an experience I'll never forget and will probably do again.

DC Route  Sucess!

We heard rockfalling above the Cowlitz until about 11 pm that night. So we delayed our summit until it got a little colder. We left about 1 am and had a safe and uneventful climb. The snow/ice was good the whole way. It was warm on our return. It took 7 hours up and 4 hours down with plenty of time for breaks, pics, food, etc.

DC route  Sucess!

Summited at 10 am on a sunny and very hot day (t-shirt weather on top). Spectacular glaciers and views. Descent was uneventful in a good way as there were a lot of potential hazards due to the warmth.

Second summit on June 14th, 2009 via the DC again.

lots of climbs  Sucess!

4 climbs so far. 2 successful. the first was my first and uneducated glacier climb with my buddy. we are lucky nothing happened. we didn't know what we were doing...but we got some good pics. then a success the next year with the same guy. and again the following year with some fellow SP friends. and then a failure last weekend because a member of our party bit off more than he could chew and we had to turn around. oh well. back up in two weeks. done DC 3 times and emmons once. one more for emmons this month. then maybe a new one in august.

DC in August - what fun!  Sucess!

Great weather and great summit. I climbed this peak with one partner, Ed, a good friend from the Sierra Club. It's nice to return home to Washington and get in a peak.

The ever changing DC route  Sucess!

Great route, except for the loose nasty DC itself. Reminded me of N. Maroon Peak in ways. The route seemed like it had to be altered by the hour due to lots of sun and melting bridges. Aboslutely gorgeous mountain! TR coming at some point.

Hats off to RMI for their wanding. That said, watch out for old wand that have not been removed.

Emmons- Winthrop  Sucess!

Summited with friends Marc Shwartz and Chris Umphres- despite having sore legs from summiting Mt. Baker the day before. We camped at Camp Shurman and left for the summit at 2am. We reached the summit at around 8am and took a nap on a steam- warmed rock at the crater rim. We descended most of the route without our crampons due to soft snow. The glissades down the Inter Glacier were like sliding down a 3000 foot water slide! Totally fun!!!!

Emmons Route  Sucess!

Took the Emmons Route with friend Mike Leno from Bend, OR. Got a head start and camped at Glacier Basin the first night, which gave us an easy second day to Schurman, where we camped instead of at Emmons Flats due to rain and sleet. Cleared up that night and we had a great summit day with the best weather you could expect. It was actually almost too warm making the snow very soft on the way down. The next day it was even warmer on the descent, but we could see the storms blowing in and were glad to get back to the car! Overall a great climb on a huge mountain!
