From Gold Camp Rd  Sucess!

A very cold day this early in the season. I brought a Camelbak and my water was frozen almost immediately. 20s on the summit with 30ish mph wind gusts. Fun hike nonetheless and didn't see another soul all day (if you don't count a few offroaders that is :).

Rowz on Rosa  Sucess!

Hiked with Falcon Curves hiking group. We all summited. 8 members youngest was 53 oldest 73. We came up from Frosty's park. The 4 WD road was very rocky. Beautiful weather. Trail is slick were motor bikes have smoothed down dirt and scratched rocks. Motor bikes are rutting sections of trail.

Snowy...  Sucess!

The drive to frosty's park is pretty bad in January but was a highlight. Most would say that this is an easy hike, due to the lack of steep mixed snow, rock and ice. But that is what makes it tougher, say moderate. The lack of rocks knee to waist deep snow and relatively steep grade make the trail tough to negotiate. The summit push flows though some great trees and rocks, the view is 360 degrees of the pikes region. The Western view has lines of snow peaked mountains...

A hike up to the clouds  Sucess!

Just some suggestions I wrote to the page's author about: The trail is clearly marked, but I saw nothing about "Nelson's Trail". The clearing on the right is bordered by a fenced off area and there is an old beat-up sign that says "Captain Jacks Multi-Use Trail System". The trail number for Mount Rosa is #672 (the one on the right, going uphill). Then at the first summit the trail #673 to the right is the trail to take all the way to the top of Mount Rosa. After we summited we in the clouds most of the time, but every once in a a while there would be a clearing for beautiful views of the Penrose-Rosemont Reservoir and Pike's Peak.

From...  Sucess!

Frosty's Park. Heard dirtbikes ahead of us on the 672 trail and witnessed fresh bike tracks as well, sad.

Frosty Park Std.  Sucess!

Fun little hike that gets the heart pumping. Great views from the top and relatively unpopulated in spite of its close location to the Springs. Can't say enough good things about this gem of a hike.

First summer hike  Sucess!

I hiked Rosa from Frosty's Park. The trail was easy to find, then I bushwacked to the summit. The views were great!

Frosty Park Route  Sucess!

I thought this was a pleasant hike up a mountain with great 360 degree views of the Pikes Peak region. There is a lot of relief when you look down at the plains at 6000 feet.

February!!  Sucess!

Finally! I've now climbed Rosa in every calendar month. I found amazingly little snow, and a good snowshoe-packed track up the final climb to the summit. 3:20 up, 2:42 down, from Gold Camp Road TH.

Route Climbed: 379 to Frosty Park  Sucess!

Nice hike. We got to 379 a little after 9am, and around the time we got to the trailhead for Rosa, it started to snow/sleet in spurts. Luckily it quit once we got a little farther up the trail. The cairns were pretty easy to find up in the clearing, and the trail was easy to follow, though there is still just a little snow across the path (though it's easy to hike around). The view from the summit was gorgeous, especially since the sun had made it out by that point. We made it back down around 1pm, just before it started to get overcast and gross again. So I guess we won out with the weather (relatively). Overall great hike.

first January climb  Sucess!

Climb #19. Lots of postholing through fresh snow above 10,000 ft. made for a long day. But the weather was beautiful, I had the summit to myself, and added another calendar month to my Rosa history.
