| Approached on the Jones Creek Trail. Began post holing. Snowshoes necessary from 1/4 mile east of Church's Pond. Crampons necessary the last several hundred feet. Had the top to meself, no signs in the snow of humans there for weeks or months. Lenticular clouds in the sky to the southeast. Glorious view! | ||

| I did the normal hike on the way up but then went over to the summit of Church Peak from the saddle between the two and then cut over to the trail on the west edge of the saddle on the way down. There was a faint use path in some places. 1:48 up, 26 min. on top, 25 min. to Church, 1:39 down, 4:19 total RT. | ||

| humboldt415 | Christmas Rose ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 25, 2011 | |
| Christmas Day- Me and Alan set out from Jones Creek TH at 4am, pitched tent in the meadow behind Church's Pond and kept going after sunrise. Not a bad route if you LOVE to bushwack for 14 hours over patchy snow. | ||

| Started at the turnout by the snow plow garage below Sky Tavern (7500'), SE ridge route. My first time by this route. Ascended in 2:15, total 4:00. Beautiful day, Tahoe was shimmering in the sun. 20F and 55mph wind at the summit. | ||

| Tried twice before but too much snow. Made it up this time from the ski resort parking lot -- snowshoes & crampons. Had the whole peak to myself for the day. | ||

| GDrape13 | Lots of snow! ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 15, 2011 | |
| Wally came up from Phoenix and we hiked up Mt. Rose. Had been waiting for enough snow to melt to make an ascent...we still spent about 1/3 of the hike in snow fields. Yet another beautiful day in the Lake Tahoe Basin area. Ran into "Bob" age 91, still hiking...onward, upward. Amazing. | ||

| After successfully summiting Boundary Peak, Mount Grant, and Mount Davidson the previous two days, we had enough time in the morning hours to hike to the summit of Mount Rose before needing to fly back to Washington. Great trail, and great views from the summit area. I hiked over to nearby Church Peak, afterwards. | ||

| partlysunny | Kind of Tough...But Awesome Views! ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 6, 2011 | |
| Just a few snowfields in the shade before the waterfall in the meadows area. Took me 2 hours and 20 mins to reach the top and then 2 hours on the button to hike down. It gets tough after the meadows when you turn the corner and hike straight up. The switchbacks after that gives you a bit of a rest, but still breathing hard! | ||
