| Started at the winter closure (10,900 ft) in Iowa Gulch. Slogged the first few miles in snowshoes and climbed mostly dry slopes from 11,900 ft to the tops of both Sherman and Sheridan from the Sherman/Sheridan saddle. A beautiful winter day except the wind was pretty nasty up high. | |

| In an effort to minimize snow travel, particularly with large late-season cornices slaughing off the ridge with Sherman, we took the direct route up the eastern slope of Sheridan. Though steep, a faint use trail begins switch-backing up the mountain about 1/3 of the way up the ascent, speeding progress. We enjoyed a private, quiet summit, happy to be far from the Sherman crowds. | |

| Hiked this after doing Sherman. Started to sleet on the summit. Had to get down fast. The thunder was loud and clear. Planned on hiking over to Horseshoe and doing it next, but the rain and sleet chased me off the mountains. | |

| Winter ascent with two others. After driving alone to 11,000 feet on the 22nd, I walked to 11,560 feet and camped. The night was -7F. At 12,100 feet, I waited for and met three others whom planned to climb Sherman and Sheridan with me. Another member caught up later. The five of us climbed Sherman and three of us climbed Sheridan. It was a great trip in good weather. | |
